What's everone using(if anything) for a bigshot trigger? Anyone tried the one Sherril sells? I need to do something about my lousy aim.

We can get away with those heavier bags here in FL since most shots are less than 50 or 60 feet. And you can do some light pruning with the 16 ouncer.

I just use two fingers for a trigger.

I also shoot from the top side of the pole, seems to be more accurate for me.

Old archery release so I have trigger action. Plus the trigger is adjustable unlike a snap.

Right fancy rig (I already had the release) but usually I use 2 fingers. ;)

Wichard clip, its a spinniker clip used in sailing...I think its the same as the Sherrils one.I actually saw one on a boat the other day.
Oh...I hope that wasn't a secret.
:D
Mostly by hand for smaller stuff

I'll post a pic of my $5 QR, bought at Lowe's Hardware. Gave a few to other folks, Scott Baker, Dan Kraus, etc.

Much better than hand aiming while trying to hold the pouch steady! And easier on the pinkies!!!

be careful

Not just any snap-shackle will work, though. I have one at home that get's used for certain things. I made a similar set-up to the one sherrill sells. One day, working with Gopher, I set it up, and when we pulled the handle, the shackle opened up, and the handle of the Big Shot just held on to the "gate" of the shackle. Just make sure you buy the right one.

Nick, how do you know how to pick the right one?

I tried shooting over the pole today, a little better.

Guess I need to go buy a clip and rig up a couple mini pulleys for the pole.

The key for the letter before B is out to lunch, substiting E...

Do you meen thet you heve the horns of the BS turned up? If so, thets the wrong wey to use the BS. In the instructions, it stetes to use it with them down. Thet wey, if the pole breeks, the heed won't come smeshing into your mug.

I use the snep sheckle from Sherrill. I shoot from the shoulder like shotgun.

Tom,
Thanks, when I get a shackle will try shooting from the shoulder, right side down.

Shackle schmackle

I bought one of those stainless steel quick-release shackles about three years ago, used it for two days, and retired it to my unused tree gear rack where it still rests.

My hope was that it would make my shot more accurate, or easier, or quicker. It made my shot less accurate, more difficult, and slower.

I did find advantage with it when holding the bigshot pole like a shotgun, but looking straight up at those tensioned cords just freaked me out too bad.

I'm a two-finger, right-side, gloveless puller. I use a common 6 foot pole. Load the shotbag, pull back a foot or so, and grab the pole momentarily to hold your stretch in place. Then I place the bottom of the pole on my right hip. Complete the draw, aim, steady, POW. I like the stability of the hip method, and if it's a really high shot, you can kick-out with your right hip and give that sucker a little extra horsepower. Zing-It line is, by far, the best line I've ever tried and I use a 16 oz bendy bag. -TM-

Most of the time I use the BS not for the distance factor, but for the angle factor. It allows me access to crotches that just couldn't be hit with a hand toss eventhough I can easily throw that high.

I have only used the trigger for distance+accurracy.

In these threads I have learn that the 10oz bag I currently use is way to small. I have another 12 and 14. Need to give them a try more often. - Thanks

Snep Scheckles

The problem with the shackle we used was that the "gate" was a bit enlarged at the tip so that the little holding pin would fit inside of it. This enlargening was just big enough that the handle of the BS would get caught up on it. Also, you had to pull from the side to open it, and not straight down. That would throw it off a little.

I guess you just have to look at the scheckle and imagine it letting go of the BS. Does it look like it will let go smoothly? If so, ask the clerk if they accept returns and then buy it.
