Nice job getting it down. We removed a ash that was just over 14" measured around the base. It was 52" in dia where I cut it off. It was approximately 90' which is a good sized tree in this part of the world.
I admit I get a little nervous and sometimes start to second guess myself when they have the potential to hit a structure like this one did. Shoot you used a long bar compared to what I used, a 660 with only a 25" bar. Congratulations on getting your biggest down safe.

What is that a 36", 42"? Either way, it is more than enough bar to get the job done. . Next time try and make a deeper face and then cut out the heart from the face. Much more time=money value. .

Sportin the DiGI's, Love it, ya got the boots on too, lol.Next time, just use MCMAP!

Toledo Country Club..been doing their work now since last year..I worked there when I got off active duty in 97' and I still know a couple people..thats the Anthony Wayne Trail in the background..

And thats a 36" bar on the 660...to say thats my largest tree ever is an understatement..I think the biggest before that was about 1/2 that size..if I ever need a bigger bar than a 36" the saw is going to be the least of my concerns as far as needing bigger equipment..LOL I know the limits of what I have and if it wasnt for them having a Bobcat I couldnt have done it..always good to know the limits of what you can and can't do..

Talking to the bank to maybe invest in alot more equipment..thinking maybe a 15" chipper..chip truck and a small dump truck and trailer to haul wood offsite..maybe a bobcat or mini too..the work is here..its just a matter of how much time I want to devote to the business to get it..I still have alot going on with school and the sheriffs dept..I'll just have to see what happens

good work and good luck.

Looking into a 660 for a cotton wood duo coming up with the city gig. Will it run a 42" with a semi or full skip?? Might have to break the bank and go with an 880.

My 660 runs the 36" with the full comp chain just fine..I went down to a 7 tooth on the rim sprocket to make sure I still kept the torque on the lower end..for a 42" I would think a semi skip would be the better bet..I dont have much experience with the larger bars or with cotton woods for that matter..only played with a couple of them and they are watery suckers..the chips came out like a slury..water just ran out like a faucet on a 40ish" one I helped with a while back...

Alright guys..off on a date with a girl to go picnicing and fishing at the state park..
Holler at ya laterz..

MCMAP, and here I thought that was a new sandwich! Go away for a decade or so and they have all sorts of new things.

Yep its worthless too! When I was called back in, they knew about my background, they wanted me to go to the MACE to teach them, which is the "DOJO" for it. After my 2 older sons walked thru many a MCMAP black belts, I said no. They (USMC) came to Pat Miletich to start it, then once he was done, they brought in the engineers and did all these studies on hand to hand, then redeveloped it into what it is now. It is ridiculous. They wanted me to teach under their parameters. Parameters! there are no parameters in a real fight! We would go to the gym at lunch to roll at OCS, the MCMAP guys would show, then get all but hurt when they were schooled by teenagers. Can still say that my 2 boys are the only kids ever to be fully authorized to train Marines in hand to hand combat! But that's what happens when they grow up at Pat's gym! The MCMAP guys would say "well they(enemy) are not gonna do that if.........." My reply was "well, if you already know what Jonnie Taliban is going to do, why are you here" They teach these guys on perfect scenarios, bad thing to do, cause when you hook up with someone, in a life or death, anything goes. The Army Combative's is better, wish the Corps would take a look at that. They are taught to fight with everything they got, using every tool, no rules or regulations, just fighting to win...survive.

When i was in they were looking at Krav since it was deisigned for modern combat. Oh well the Zero's get there hands on things and SNAFU! I saw the problem regularly working in Combat Service Support - Comm. (MSSG, BSSG...) thye would give us new systems to use, ask us what we thought, then write a fantasy report because some higher-up was interested in the device. I remember one of the first "packet" digital comm deivices that hooked up to the PRC-77 et all. the shipboard unit would get masked by the superstucture as the ship moved on anchor....
