I doubt Baileys can help you on the kit, they are not known for having a lot of older NLA Sthil parts. I would check with chainsawr.com, also a site sponsor. I have a local dealer that has been around since the 60's and I will check with them for you, any chance that someone may have a Sthil part number for the kit?

My 064 had a Bing carb on it. I asked here on AS about a rebuild kit for one before. I had replies that they are astronomically expensive. Like 40 dollars. I threw the bing carb in the scrap box and put on a Walbro.

Hi Robo66

Am also chasing a replacement for my Bing 49 carby. It is a Bing 49 (49A101AU). It this the same carby model you had. If so what model Walbro did you fit to your 064 and does it requires any modifications, or is it a straight fit. Thanks Droid

Welcome to AS. I replaced my Bing carb with a Walbro WJ10A carb it was a direct replacenent.

Wow,I was afraid Stihl would stop carrying kits for the Bing, they were only used for a short time on the 064.
I'm happy I've still got 5 new Bing kits, and I'm hanging on to them.

I still have my Bing carb but like I said I was told the price of the kit was expensive. The Bing carb started acting up at the wrong time. I was cutting about a 32 inch Beech tree. It ran ok to cut the notch and part of the back cut. Part way through the backcut the saw would bog out. That tree was about 65 feet high. I started the cut I had to finish it . That was not a good feeling with that much tree above your head and your saw dont run right. I put on the Walbro no problems. The saw stood up and ran well. Im suprised a carb could act up so fast. Maybe dirt I dont know never took the carb apart to see. my plans were to rebuild the Bing carb since I didnt know how much time was on that carb until I found out how much a rebuild kit was. So I installed the Walbro.
