Birch ID

I bought my first dump trailer of wood yesterday from a tree service. The guy said it was birch so I looked it up and I couldn't tell whether it was black birch or river birch. The heartwood was almost a dark red. I plan on splitting as soon as the ground is semi dry. Read a lot about birch going bad unsplit so I cut a line down the trunk to open up the bark.

By the bark in the 1st pic, I'd say River Birch.

Looks like the cultivar 'Heritage' river birch. It is widely planted some would say widely over planted. Just the thing a tree service would come across in someone's yard.
