I fell a large, standing dead Douglas fir and the trunk was forked into two sticks about 40 feet up from the butt. One of the forks was fine, but the other one had this black, oily goo running through the center from at the fork to the very top. I noticed it as I was bucking it, the rounds would just fall in half after the saw passed through. Assuming this is some kind of bacteria/infection, what is it and is it safe to burn?
