Amoungst My Saws........Fool That Has Too Many!!!
I don't know what made me think of this, but here goes. About 3 yrs. ago I was doing some pruning and a small removal. The tree that was removed was a Silver Maple. When I went to make the stump cut I felt the notorious hard object against the chain. I pulled the saw out and had some metal caught in the cutter. When I finally got the cut finished The wood was bluish in color where the metal was. The metal came out of the cutter fairly easy. I assumed it was lead. Any thoughts on this? Thanx, Rich.

usually nails or whatever stain wood blackish/bluish, haven't seen any really blue stains. i don't recall ever finding metal in silver maple, i suppose different woods and different metals would produce different stains.
