I was doing up a big bid and was pasting the specs together and thought I would share and ask for commentary.

This comes up every now and then and I thought I would bring it up again.

1. The work is bid both as individual jobs, or to all be completed at our convenience. If broken up into separate jobs, there will be a $300 minimum limit.
2. Prices include a good cleanup with removal of fine debris and all wood created by or actions, price reductions are available with the client taking on some of the work.
3. Stump grindings will be raked back into the pit to reduce trip/fall hazard
4. Temporary power disconnect is needed and we will schedule this with We/Energies.
5. The work area is a hardhat area and the client shall not enter the area while work is in progress. The client is responcible for warning the crew of need to enter the work area and allowing time to stop work safely
6. Payment is due on completion of the specified work

Customer is responsible for (marking / locating) septic fields, tank.

Customer is responsible for (locating / marking) dry wells

Customer is responsible for locating underground conductors such as tv, dog fencing, etc. if need be.

Those are some of the ones I would want. I was doing a clearing project a while back and had an excavator on site. Client told me that the area was clear of septic or anything like that. Sure enough we hit a field, it was on him.

I've done the septic too, with the UG locate I call diggers and make them responcible for any "non-utility underground services, eg electric to wells, outdoor lighting..."

I have a larger list on file that I will cut and paste from so the verbiage is the same all the time and I can look through and see what I need.

The debris caveat I use came from Peter Torres (if I remember correctly) off The Knot Hole about 8 years ago or so (that long!!). He did a huge pine TD and had to clean all the gutters of multi year duff deposits before he could collect for the job.

"all the debris you said, and that is debris from the tree!" said the lady.

That reminds me of the story with the stump grinding job in MA somewhere.

Roots from stump less than ? will not be ground with the stump.

Greg, How many sprinkler heads have you crushed so far???? I did'nt know New England Tree did stump grinding, what kind of digger did you guys get????
