Got to thrash this house today... bombing huge oak limbs and wood onto a buddy of mine's rancher, just as long as we didn't hurt the floor joists or the chimney. Jon had to wait in the tree while we took out the garage door and rails etc...
I did not want to take this lead out, though I knew it had significantt decay. I wanted to prune and cable the lead, maybe multiple cables. Jon of course had the best view of the decay and gave me the "tree-hugger" lecture in fromt of the home owner.
It made some noise comin through the roof... got it all on video. So jon finally got his wish (one of many)....

Jon has the stills.... When the first piece came down, I heard a neighbor say "well built garage"
The homeowner and jon were both worried about the floor joists... not me, not really... well maybe just a little concerned... I've seen trees hit houses mighty hard and they take it most of the time. Did see a few cracked foundations and totals after Isabel and remember one house after Yugo, that was knocked completely out of square... not one door would shut.... made the tree removal easy though... no worries... let gravity do what it is best at!

Took my own pics the other day befoew finishing clean up and also checked out the video...
the video is cool, but you don't get the full experience becasue the audio limiter on the camera really chops the boom out of the hose crunching sounds.
here are a couple of pics:
ps..... I lobbied for a hard prune and cable, but was overruled by the climber and homeowner. He told me he loves the tree... guess he loves the new house more.

cause it was in the way....... of course........ :)

No actually, Big Jon, wanted to bomb a house last fall, so he finally got his wish.... :dizzy:

Gotta watch what you ask for.

ok was is a dump ? looked ok guess he just wanted to replace some stuff huh ? and hear loud craching sounds ....cool

After trying to not hit a house so many times; it seems like a relief to do such things. On occasions where it doesn't matter though; i try to see how close i can come, maybe even just hit and roll off with no or minimal damage. Still using the novelty but in a different way.

I got to bomb a garage one time that burned up and burned a big pine right next to it. Not as much fun as it could have been. Limbs and small top did no real damage and I dropped the pole towards the road for easier clean up. Oh well, more power to you Murph and Big J.

:) :dizzy: :p

some companies work that way as standard

Ha Ha Ain't that the truth :p
Remember getting a job years back that had a 16" x 30' lead of an oak laying in a empty swimming pool next door. Homeowner had contracted local hack & slash and the first cut he made
crashed right into the what was full swimming pool, draining the water and flooding 2 basements. Guy packed up and left telling homeowner, he would be back to repair damage, never to be seen again.

Looks like fun Murph, hope you took the advertising signs off the truck before you started that job, might not get to many referals out of that one.
:p

it was fun

sorry i cant write much here dan can explain why if he likes but itwas fun and i did get to do some experimenting on the cuts.
