I tried to find the appropriate thread to add this picture, but couldn't find it. I took this shot last month when I was down in Tampa working with Brett (treeman14).
The older gentleman to the left is Brett's dad, who still kicks butt at 82 years old. Ben is guiding the Bay tree into the Morbark 13 Hurricane. The truck is Brett's '97 bucket truck which is for sale, his new bucket is in the background.

That Mobark is one mean SOB. Couple things I didn't like however, is the poop chute set-up for directional change - the pins work their way out eventually so bolts have to used and it takes two men, one to move chute back and forth and one to place the bolts. The chute's heavier than any other chipper. Another thing is the barrel rocker arm - it takes lot's of abuse and you have to be visually alert to make certain the 2" rod that passes through the machine to both sides remains in place. Also the control/safety/directional and speed feeder handle - the hydraulic valve it's tied into get's bucky after a few hundred hour's use. Bring along some 12-guage wire and DUCT TAPE!!

Is that a John Deere powerplant? They didn't offer glow plug ignition a few years ago, hope that's changed.

Other than some Mobark dealers that don't work up to standard, it's a cool unit, wish I had one. Oh, it's too heavy for a 3/4 ton truck to haul around isn't it?

Kudo's for the old timer. My Pa's one of those too.

Two buckets. Wonder if anyone's thought about a "Bucket-Truck jousting match?" One guy with a baseball bat in one rig, one with a mace in the other. Full protective gear for both, swinging 'round and fighting each other. Ground crew controlling movement only. One hand tied behind each man's back up there.

Hey, why not? This is America afterall.

Agreed.

We have the Cummins.

We have a good dealer in our area. No, I'm not saying this just because I'm presently wearing the jacket they gave me.

Not too heavy for our 1994 Ram 2500 w/diesel.

My dad will become one!

I would pay to see that! Would look something like

or
fight.gif
with one appearing like this
owned.gif
at the end and the other like

By the way - just how large a limb will that Bobark eat?
A 13" limb in theory. Depends on the type of wood, etc.

Sidenote: If you get one of these, don't get the infeed chute that you have to lift and pin shut - it'll kill ya with it's weight!

They are great, 'specialy when they have the feedwheel speed and autofeed adjustments. Chip willow in the morning have it run fast, slow it down in the afternoon for oak. One bad thing about that is I seen a guy let his knifes get real bad before flipping them because he could adjust the feed:rolleyes:

I can only hope I look that good at that age ! I have a couple customers like that, one guys an ex General , about 83 with a BIG BOOMING voice! Scares my guys:laugh:

Got to run a 250+? Brush Bandit , dual wheel with a big honkin' diesel a guy I know has, awesome , thing would eat anything, they were feeding it stumps that were pulled out with an excavator , I know, I know, but I didn't do it!!! Oh yeah, had hydraulics to control the chute position and the tongue lift , very cool.

Todd, I think you are talking about either an Intimidator, or a 280. Either one is a sick SOB. I was just looking at a Vermeer BC2000 today and that thing is a big boy. Had the dual tires with the winch on the back.

I'm pretty sure it was a Brush Bandit 250+, never seen this model before, said he got it about 5 yrs. ago? Bad mofo
