Briggs & Stratton engines on Ferris mowers

I'm looking at Ferris zero turn mowers. My father has always told me to stay away from Briggs & Stratton engines. What are your experiences with the latest B&S engines? Should I go with the Kawasaki they offer? FYI I'm not a landscaper, just a homeowner with some land that likes professional/commercial quality stuff (got this way from listening to Dad).

The "big block" Briggs, say 30hp and up, are very good engines. I would stay away from their smaller offerings.
