My property has an invasive species, Privet, on it. I've begun pulling it up by the roots. These bush's are a soft wood that can grow, at my house, up to around 4" in diameter. I have the chance to pick up a Promark 210 brush chipper that needs a new motor. It originally came with a 16HP Briggs & Stratton that from what I can tell ran at around 3000 RPM. This original engine direct coupled to the chipper's wheel.
I have a 20 HP Kubota diesel that I would use to power the chipper. The Kubota puts out 17.2 HP at 1800 RPM. Would I need to "gear" it up from 1800 to 3000 RPM to spin the cutting wheel at it's designed speed? If so I would use a jackshaft pully setup to do it.

All advice greatly appreciated!
