My buddy saw this at work at the local university. Never saw one before. Kinda neat. Anyone ever work with one?

Now that I see it larger, it doesn't appear to be an actual log skidder. Just a bad ass articulating bucket with a blade. Still cool.

its a skidder. see timberjack on it? just not used for dragging wood per se.
line clearance crews for power companies use em in the swampy bottom right of ways all over the south.

how ya doing chris?

Yup, pretty common rig for ROW clearance and general utility work around here. Power lines go a lot of places trucks can't.

Yeah, I saw the "Timberjack" on there but didn't know what to call a skidder that don't skid. I might pick one up so I can push mds's "stubbs" around. lol

Doin' good here, Dave, was slammed with work the past two weeks but it's slowin' up a bit. Damn rain is keeping everybody indoors. When the weather clears I'm sure the phone will be ringing again. When you headed back to IL?

no time soon, way too nice here. gonna be 90 today, and beautiful all week.

ups delivers my gear monday, and its on like donkey kong. :D

Good to hear, brother. Keep safe out there. Let me know if you're considering swinging north. Like I said, ####'s slow now, but it could blow up in a few weeks...hopefully.

Too bad you didn't live closer chris. We could have saved you the $700 tow bill last week, and just dragged The Girl's Playhouse out of that dude's lawn fer ya! :hmm3grin2orange:

Sorry...

Thanks, I DID need to be reminded of that. Had a lot of fun with the wheelbarrow and topsoil on Friday afternoon. lol

What are friends for! lol.

Don't worry, with all the rain we had yesterday, I'm sure I'll manage to burry Stubs up to his axles at the horsey farm this week... either that, or my all time fav: some more bad hyd. lines will blow! Gotta love it!

I could've used one here in illinois when I was on the row.

I saw a boom system on a big 4 wheel agriculture spreader chassis down in arkasas a couple of years ago at their ice storm. That unit would pay for itself here in no time with those big floatation tires. Then I got to thinking, why not build a small boom system onto a big row crop chassis. How many times was I bogged down clearing a grove by hand simply because we couldn't get into the adjacent field for the crops? It was ridiculous.

I will never be involved in any firm bidding on ROW work around here without such a machine.

I'd love to build one, one of these days, just to illustrate their doubtless advantages.
