Good friend of mine left logging and went to work for a chip mill several years ago. Inspire of his protest about the safety conditions they insisted he do some welding today. Well one of the chippers threw a slab at him that stuck 5" into his arm. This picture was in the ER headed to surgery. Surgery went fine and he is in recovery post op tonight. Becareful out there and say a prayer for Keith's speedy recovery.

Well this sucker won't let me post a picture from my phone. If somebody wants to send me their email address I'll send you the picture and you can try to post it. Otherwise I'll post it in the am when I get to the office computer.

Finally got the picture to load. I talked to Keith yesterday. He was resting in the med/ surg unit with an IV bag of antibiotics and praising the hospitals narcotic menu. He said it was starting to really swell.
Here's the story as best I understand it- The plant he works for chips pulpwood into pet shavings. They are in the process of starting up another chipper and wanted him to do some welding on it. He told them he did want to because one of the older machines was running right beside him. They told him it was fine... get over it. While he was welding the machine threw a slat out that hit him in the arm and penetrated 5 inches from just below the elbow upward. His wife said it chipped the bone some and damaged some of the tendons but mostly the tendons were intact. I foresee a large insurance settlement in Keith's future.
