building a storm box/ extending grapple

Im working on building a debris/brush box on my mack Im wanting to use 3/16 steel becuse its available I think Im gonna weld it right outside yhe log bunk already on the truck to save money Im also wanting to cut the end of the boom arm of my serco8000 and weld on a 5' extension . I think Im gonna make the total heighth right at 13'6'' . Id take any advice from those that built there truck
