I needed an outdoor toilet for the ladies at the cabin.Decided to build it myself.Framed the walls, sheeted it with OSB,then covered it with my homemade cedar siding. The inside is paneled with cedar and finished with poly.Made my own door and put in a stained glass window.Interior floor is hard maple.View attachment 246060View attachment 246061

Wow! I thought we had a pretty nice outhouse... but that is darn fancy!!!

Ours is at least a two-hole'er - which comes in handy every so often!!! :)

Nice work!

So does this just sit over a hole, or do you have a tank in it?

Also, do you have any ventilation? Maybe a little solar powered fan to keep the fumes down would be a good addition.

It just sits over the hole.I anchored it to 4x4 posts sunk in the ground. It sits on the posts about 3 or 4 inches above the ground(for ventilation) and I screened the bottom with hardware cloth to keep the critters out. I have a plastic tank in the ground so it can get pumped out if needed.I also have two swing out windows in the sides for ventilation.

Oh , That's Sikkens cedar tone stain on the exterior.I had slabs left over from the cedar logs So I ran them through the table saw to square them up and used them for the siding.

I want one for the south end of my property. 1/2 mile hike when you gotta GO is a losing proposition. I already have an ammo can stashed with TP (yeah, I'm a puss!). :p I don't touch deuces if I can avoid it, and preparation is key.

I have used leaves, I just prefer the white stuff to damp sandpaper.

Nice work!!

It looks as good if not better than the "Rustic" flush outhouses set up around the Fudgie trap resorts.
Nice touch with the stained glass as well!
I expected a solar panel and a heated seat though.;)

Good move on the screen.
Nothing worse than just sitting down and things starting to happen, and then you hear a growl or angry hiss from underneath the seat.
OK, maybe angry paper wasps nailing your keester while mid dump is worse, but not as unexpected.

Stay safe!

No need to dig a hole. Use a five gallon bucket with a seat and cover system. Poop, pee, toilet paper in the bucket. Cover each use with a handful of sawdust or fine softwood chips. No odor. When full empty in compost bin. Cover with straw, garden waste - each layer. Will break down into odorless compost after about a year. Never have to move the out house or deal with a hole filled with sh#t.
