Hey everyone.
I’ve got a problem that’s getting really annoying and was wondering if anyone had a solution that they have come up with.
Living in rural Alaska, every time I order a roll of chain it shows up with the box and roll completely destroyed. Which makes for a real rats nest that just seems to get worse with time.
Anyone come up with a decent way to wrap or store bull chain like that?

You can try using an empty wire spool or make one out of two round discs (for the ends) and PVC pipe (for the center tube)

plus one on that... every roll that gets shipped through the USPS and the Military postal system arrives looking like it was smashed, kicked thrown of the back of the truck, and the chain itself is always a tangled up like a bowl of pasta.

I have had some stuff show up a bit stepped on in the mail, or just not show up, but cant say I ever had a reel of chain tangled... Then again the only outfit I buy reels of chain from is Madsens and they are only a thousand miles south of here, so thats not much to go on.

A guy could wrap it around about anything, as long as it was softer/less abrasive than the cutters which is nice about cardboard, that and it will retain some oil to keep the rust at bay, although the interior is basically a desert so maybe not a problem there. I'd get me to the three bears and get a nice waxed cardboard box from the produce section, and make a reel out of that if I was real inspired. Or go to the garage and turn 100' of chain into 25 or so loops...
