Bulk filter material

What is a good bulk filter material for chainsaws or weedwackers etc. Filters preshaped i cant find cheap.

I bought an approximately 4inch x 6 inch x 2 inch thick piece of air filter foam from Ace hardware,I believe in the small engine dept.

I think stens sells the green foam in 6 inch square sections, i had to use some a while back on a obsolete N/A weed eater power head

I cut up good quality vaccum cleaner filter bags to a suitable shape and place them over (or under) original filters.
