Not exactly something I milled, but something I picked up when I was getting logs to mill. This was a live oak burl that was lying in a dry creek bed. I trimmed it up with the ms170, then used a Lancelot blade on my angle grinder to rough cut everything to shape. It still had some bark, and all the eyes were spikes. Once I got it roughly smoothed, I used a flap wheel to smooth it up, then some elbow grease & paper. I polyurethaned it then drilled a hole for the cord. The stem is copper tube that I put in the lathe & heated with a torch, then brushed so it would somewhat match the shade. The shade came from a local shop that makes this stuff. Everything else came from Lowes. Anyway, it turned out pretty cool and matches our decor in the house. What was a washed up live oak I found while picking up logs, turned out to be something I'll keep forever. Best part is that momma loves it
Notice the trapped stone. I worked around it best I could.
The stem. Flash is drowning out the colors but shows the brushing.
