I have been installing more and more cables lately, usually on mature trees with included bark. I have never really been taught how to cable by an experienced arborist and I have not been able to find a good book that works out all the details.

I understand the basics of cabling but I have a few questions. For instance is there a difference in how you cable a younger tree compared to a mature tree? If you cable a young tree do you eventually need to remove and replace the cable? I would also like to get a book that has diagrams of proper cabling methods etc.

Anyone know of a good book for this? Maybe we can write one in this thread.
