Chainsaw Acquistion Disease!

I was not being productive today, and started counting chainsaws. This does not count junkers that will never be restored.

I have 19 "working saws" total, but 4-6 need some major work. Everything from the big Husqvarna 3120 with 50" bar, down to the little Stihl 210C. I have 3 chainsaw pole pruners, too, but only 1 is operational. My climbing saw population has been decimated and I need to get at least one!

I didn't count my two antique saws, which will never make sawdust again.
I didn't count the 4 Stihl cutoff saws, either.
I also have two chainsaw-powered winches, too. (one is capstan rope, the other is a steel cable variety)

There are at least 4 junkers laying around, too.

Running machines=14

How badly are you afflicted?

I got 8 and thats pretty much all I need, but i am planning to get a new 460 soon. My 440 is old and I don't like the 441.

just out of curiousity why do you like the 440 better than the 441. i only ask because i listen and use the opinions of others to make choices in the future.

Correction, I like the 460 better than the 441. I'm looking for a replacement for daily use for my 440 which I absolutely love. I'll rebuild the 440 of course but the 460 has me saving my pennies.

For the same weight and 6 horsepower the 460 makes more sense to me than the 441.

Just my .02

I used to have CAD bad. It has toned down quite a bit, but ever time I am in the Stihl dealership buying this or that, I always have to heft a new saw in my right hand and give it a good look-over, no matter what the model, one always gets a thorough inspection when I am there.

More and more it looks like I will be getting back into trees full time, and I am sure come spring, I will once again be afflicted by the CAD.

I'm presently at 7 and found that this variety suits my needs.

Wants... that's another thing. Wouldn't mind getting another 460, my favorite saw, to speed things up when we're bucking up the logs.

I think I have more than CAD, and have a bad case of aquireitis. Whenever I go into the dealer for something small (engine or bar oil) I end up leaving with something extra. Spare gas cap or a spool of chain or a handheld blower, woodsplitter.... thank God I have an understanding wife.:)

020t, 200t, 026, 361, 046 & 088.
- Oh ya, an Echo (top handle) that stays at the chipper.

I bought a 345 that needed a piston on ebay, then I joined here. That was about a week ago. Since joining I bought two more saws. A 372xp and a 359. I already had a teeny stihl 015.

Had 3 saws when I joined and now have 4. That was only a couple of months ago. Now I want another. Thinking a 372 before they are gone.

:jawdrop:Me too!!

Right now I have 2 192t, 361, 441 and a stihl power-head saw. I am looking at either a 660 or 880 for some of the massive spars I have been cutting lately. But I find that I have more than just CAD. Every time I pick up a catalog I find something that I just have to have. Sherrill, Wespur Madsens...Then I look at the checking balance. :censored::censored::censored:

Better get you one of the 372s. My boy Little Possum is the Huskey nut in the family. He's got one we built from scratch and that is a sawing machine. Good power and it's easy to handle. I got one 359 that we ported and muffler modded and it's a whole different monster now. Oh yea when I got on here I had three saws now 40 some and that don't count the ones we've bought fixed and sold.

Well the "Boss", aka the wife, just told me that I could buy another saw! How cool is that? Any way I have 800 bucks max to get one. Saw them somewhere for 699 on sale but cant remember what site. My local dealer is nuts wanting 839 for one.

Well I found the saw deal I was looking for and ordered a 372XPW from Madsens in Washington. Price was awesome compared to my local dealer. Can't wait til it gets here.

Currently at 6 w/ the pole saw. I know I need another climbing saw soon. My every day saw is gonna be 3 this Feb. I want to get a 361 and a 460 soon too. I've got a 260 that I hate, but it's light, and mine. Just want the 361 for something a bit better than that, but not as big as the 440. Want the 460 because my 044 needs a friend, and I won't buy a 441. Haven't really done too many big tree removals lately though, so I'm content with my 66... poor saw only gets used on MAYBE 12 trees a year. Every time I walk into the saw shop for something stupid, I always check out the prices on those 3 saws... and every time I look I can the purchase... almost $900 for the 460, $600 for the 361, and I forget the 200's... 5 or 6?
