You could consider/add a trailer for a lot less money. This particular one is no longer available but there are many similar ones that are identical, and they won't tear up your beautiful woods. This one hauls just short of 1/3 cord, and dumps too if you need that. I fill it at the wood shed and pull it in the garage in the winter.View attachment 286246View attachment 286247View attachment 286248

Nice rig you got there, i've only got 800 in mine (thanks craigslist), i'm guessing yours cost considerably more. It will haul about 1/4 cord and will climb a hill like a goat. I do sometimes put a garden trailer behind it to get a couple extra wheel barrow loads when iv'e got room to maneuver it around in the woods.
Yea Herd it was a mix of red and white oak.

I didn't buy it for it's smooth ride or cornering ability. I bought it to haul wood out of places I couldn't get the truck or tractor and because it was cheap. It's basically a motorized wheel barrow. The top speed on the 622 is 20 mph not 15, fine on the road but way to fast going across the pasture or hay field due to a lack of any suspension on the rear. At only 10 hp it's somewhat under powered but still does all I ask of it.

This is my type of thread! I agree with all comments. I'd love to have a mule, or ranger, or one of the newer, faster gators because my woods is 5 miles from the house, BUT like you I have an old beast that's getting me by on the cheap for right now. 3 point turns are normal with a full load! lol. But I bet a 4 wheeled mule/gator/ranger wouldn't have made it through this...

with a load like this...

and I just did the other day amazingly enough. I did lose a jug of bar oil through it but I wasn't stopping!

There's something to be said for those slow, non-turning slugs when things get soupy. Did I ever mention I bought mine for 600 bucks here too? (Trust me, I have! lol) I'm still always on the look out for an upgrade to one of those nice new rigs though!

Your right the Cub Cadet Volunteer I use would not have gone thru that wet spot with a load like that. It would have had two rows of the bigger rounds on it when it went thru.

Glad to see someone has my back. Let's see some pics of the rest of them at work.

Well for the price you got it for it's a steal and of course it gets places larger equipment can't get to because of size. I wasn't talking about cornering ability, I was talking about getting into and out of tight places. The gator slides the front wheel or wheels due to the twin axles. Sometime depending of terrain it wont steer at all from a dead stop.

But your opening statement looks like you are comparing a Gator to a Mule and I gotta tell you....

......the 4x4 Mule is a much better piece of equipment and will get in tighter spots and get back out of them than the gator you are showing pics of will ever do. I've used both, in fact used a gator for three days just a couple of weeks ago and have owned a Mule for about seven years now. It's got an 18hp two cylinder water cooled Kawasaki engine.

A mule might handle better in tight spots, and they are better in the snow than a Gator. In the mountains, a Gator will out work a mule by a long shot. A Gator will lock in and pull a long steep grade that will put a Mule on it's knees.

Looks like we have another " so's your mother" type thread going. If I have a loaded UTV and wanted to turn I would prefer to turn now not later.

I wonder how they got the logs loaded that high. I used to have a place on Lake Superior about 1/2 hour from Ewen and remember they had a huge load of logs like that from the 1903 worlds fair. It's gone now, but was amazing to see.
