Do you all think I can use this cyl with new rings ??

The piston was toast, but I have a good used one.

It is mildly scored on the ex. side

Off of a Homelite SXL

Give the cylinder a light hone then check ring end gap with the new rings. If the ring end gap is good at the top, middle and bottom of the bore you should be ok. Put a new ring in the bore so the gap will always be on the cylinder wall, square the ring in the bore using the piston. If the gap gets too big in the middle of the bore, you honed it too much or the damage was too severe.

If you're leery about removing too much material, use some 120 emery cloth and wd-40 as a cutting oil, it'll take a lot onger but the finish is much better and there's no way you'll remove too much material. You can dress the port edges that way while you're there too.
