After reading the technical specs on both the MS191T and the MS200T on Stihls webpage i have ascertained the following. The 191 has a larger engine which is heavier than that of the 200. The engine on the 191 although bigger does not produce the same horsepower. I am a little confused. Aside from the sheer engine size and weight and the 200s ability to hold more fuel I really see no difference in the 2 designs (top handle excluded). Can anyone shed some light on this.

P.S. I feel stupid for having to ask this question and I'm sure many of you will be snickering while reading but oh well...we were all newbs once in our lives..RIGHT???

The 200 has more overall power than the 191. Also most consider the 191 to be a homeowner saw and not very reliable. Personally I wish the 191 was a better saw because I like the handle design but from what I have heard they do not hold up very well with commercial use. Spend the extra $$ and get the 200, you will not regret it. Off course the husky and other brand folks will offer their preferences for a climbing saw but so far the 200 is mine.

I'd wondered about why the ms191 has a bigger engine than the MS200T myself, I always thought it was a typo or something.

Stihl, a couple of years ago upped the Cu. inch displacement on the 019/191 to bigger than it was previously. The 019's didn't have too good of a reputation.

If you look at the Stihl or Husky catalog, you'll find a lot of overlap in size and weight! I always wondered why they would put so much energy and consequently $$$$ into building virtual duplicates? For instance, the Husky 340/345/350 are so close in power and weight that I just can't see enough difference that they would even bother. The same with everything Stihl makes below the 025 (except the top handle designs which are a different category.)

I've got the 026 and love it, but if I were to go to the 029, I'd gain a bunch more weight, some Cu. inches, but no horsepower! I'd have to go to the MS361 to get a significant jump, which would still leave me at the weight of the 029!

the 340, 345, 350 are aimed at a consumer market, instead of the professional market that the 346, 357, 372and such are aimed towards.

191

it is a consumer version of a one hand saw. It was aimed at the pro market first, but did not hold up. I backed off selling them, so I cannot say it the newer version is any better (I sold 019).

But, there is the stray customer who had an 019 and came back for another one. Who is to say what is bad?

the 19 is not terrible, for pruning it is fine. a climbing buddy loves his for the handle configuration, but reaches for the 20 on removals.
