We recently moved into a house with apple, peach and cherry plum trees. The apple and cherry plums are doing well, but the peach tree (nectarine I think -- photo 1) looks like it has seen better days.

There's a split that starts at the base of the trunk and continues up into the three main limbs (photo 2 & 3). I assume this is sunscald, but correct me if I'm wrong. It also looks like the split let in some sort of pests (see the little holes in photo 3). It also looks like leaf cutter bees have gotten to a handful of leaves (photo 4), but that's much less of a concern.

That being said, it's still producing fruit (photo 5). Is it worth wrapping the trunk and trying to save it? Anything else I should do? The wood revealed by the sunscald looks pretty dead and I'm not confident it can be saved.

I would plant another one. Maybe you can get another year or two out of that one. The other option would be to cut it off near the base and if a shoot comes up graft it. We grow peach trees and they DON’T last as long as pear trees.
