Hello
Just a dumb question if I may. Do the Canadian saws have all the EPA junk the American saws do, if not whats the difference and could I get the parts (ie muffler) and switch them out...
Thank You

Canadian dealers do have access to non-EPA parts, but usually they have to request them. Years ago I ordered a dual-port muffler for an 026, which consisted of a regular USA exhaust casing along with the front cover from a muffler available in Europe only. Another good thing about the canucks is they can get saw models with heated handles that aren't available here in the states, like the MS-361 Arctic.

Here in the great white north heated handles are a neccessity, especially when ya gotta sleep in the dog house. Lol.

"Hey Troll," if anyone needs heated handles, it gotta be you. Lol. Heated, mitts, heated boots, heated hats, heated pants, "hell," you probably need heated long-johns Lol.

Many of the non-epa muffer covers and parts are still available in the USA for older models, as "spares"... Some fit new models perfectly.

They sure sell of lot of "replacement" 066 and 046 dual port covers... ;)

I'm far from an expert but the answer seems to be yes and no. My Husky 353 etech is epa 2 rated and has cat muffler etc. As far as I know it is the same as the US model. My MS 361 however is rated @ 4.6hp as opposed to 4.4hp in the States. I read in a thread a couple of weeks ago that the part number for the Canadian muffler is different and may account for the power difference.
To the best of my knowledge the Canadian Gov't has no independant emmissions standards and enforces US epa standards. Why the different 361 muffler is allowed here, I have no idea.

Hello Folks
I have been reading post on Mods. I can see where a free flowing Muffler would help keep a saw cool, thus extending saw life. That is the kind of mod that would interest me, with out worries of burning one up or losing power from lack of back pressure. I have a 55 Rancher I would like to put "Headers" on, my 372 will stay stock for next two years...
