Carb Kits:

Hey macman101a, have you tried looking up carb kits from bantasaw? Look at their site:< www.bantasaw.com > . You know what your looking for, but from what I've heard, if it's a McCulloch carb good luck on finding a kit and if you do fine one, todays fuel will eat it up. Check banta and good luck. Lewis.

Mac BP-1 for sale.

I have a running McCulloch BP-1 ( Balance piston ) saw for sale, which is in good condition. PM me your e-mail address for pictures and details. thanks

Macman, So it doesn't run EH! Who didn't know that!

Dennis, I was told by another member that the carb was in good shape. I tore it down before shipping it to Mike and found that it wasn't. Mike was compensated well though. The engine is in excellent shape. If Mike wants a full refund he'll get it.

No thats ok Jacob I just want to make it run so it will need a kit for the carb Im shure one will turn up and I will put it together

Do you have a plug I could put in this jug? I can't seem to find the spark plugs.... I can't remember where I put them.

Ugh!

I just looked it up,and it has to be one of the most odd carbs I have ever seen.I have the diagram of the carb.,but no listing of the make or model. It has several internal ball check valves. Most likely a radical design, for a radically different design of saw.

Carburetor Kits:

Macman101a: I found this site on the web. Don't know if they can help you or not. Send them an email and see what they say. The website is. http://www.thecarburetorshop.com/carbshop_kits.htm . They have various kits for older applications and apparently make there own kits, from what I can tell. Just a suggestion. Don't know if you'll get results or not. Take care. Lewis.

BP-1 Diaphragms

I'm not sure if this will help, but I can make two of the diaphragms for the BP-1 if they are what you need. My BP-1 had a good fuel pump diaphragm (the one on top), but the regulator diaphragms were too dried up to be used. I made new ones out of some thin Nitrile sheeting, with the center discs glued on with fuelproof glue, and they still work great after being immersed in gas for about 8 months now. Other things to pay attention to on the BP-1 Carb. are the primer check ball seat (rubber), and the condition of the fuel pump gaskets and mating surfaces. Once you get the fuel pump to prime, and have good regulator diaphragms, they seem to start and run pretty good. I'll lay $50 down that mine will start cold on the first or second pull, it's that good. One hell of a saw! Too bad they are so scarce, I'd like to have one to use for an everyday saw.

Let me know if you need the diaphragms...

To Al Smith:

Hi Al. If it's possible, can you post or send me a copy of the BP-1 carb diagram. It would be interesting to see. Thanks. Lewis.

Hello catskiner. Welcome to the site. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's made or repaired some of these old carb diaphragms. Just takes a little patience and perserverance. I made some diaphragms for an old Disston, DO-101, fuel meter. That saw is still running just fine. Just would like to eventually get some 9/16" chain for it. Again welcome aboard. Take care. Lewis.

Lewis:

Thanks for the encouraging words! I've actually been here for a while, but I haven't posted in quite a while. I posted some last winter when I was working on resurrecting my McCulloch BP-1. In fact, I think there may still be some pictures of the inside of my BP-1 in the archives. Try searching for BP-1 for the full story. I have to admit that I got very frustrated several times with that saw, but in the end it was well worth the trouble. I'm still looking for some parts for it, so I haven't begun a cosmetic restoration yet. I've got some recent photos I need to scan so I can post them here.

Best wishes for the new year...

To catskinr:

I did a quick search and reread some of your threads and remember reading them before. I had forgotten that you had posted material on the BP-1 before, but was interesting to reread them. Take care. Lewis.

if i can ever get up to Hall's i can see if he has diaphragms. i have to get up there to get two or three boxes of BP-1 parts people here are waiting for. however, it's 50 miles or more, and i am on foot...

Hey Lewis, the dang thing is on micro,I don't have a clue as how to copy it.I have the Stihl stuff on both micro and the dealers manual, the Homey manual should be here in a week or so.Some day,I'll find the Mac manual.

Heviarti:

I'm not sure, but we may have talked in the past via e-mail. Is it you that has a website with some older Macs on it? At any rate, I am now fortunate enough to own a good running BP-1, but I'm still looking for some parts. I'd like to have enough AutoMac chain and repair links to make up a loop for my saw (24" bar). I'm also looking for a sprocket cover/guard/bar retainer that's in better shape than mine (ROUGH), and a good air cleaner screen would be nice to have also. Any spare carb. parts would be nice too... I can make photocopies of the BP-1 parts manual and Service Bulletins too, if anyone needs that sort of stuff. Speaking of copies, I'd be very interested in a photocopy of a BP-1 Owners Manual or Repair Manual, if anyone has anything like that. They're neat saws, let's get em' going again!
