I'm working on my S25DA. and the carb isnt doing its job. what it does is pulls some fuel from the tank, then when the saw runs for a few seconds, it dies, and I can see the fuel going back down the line to the tank, it doesnt stay in one place, its like the inlet needle is stuck open but its not.

Its the strangest thing, since I just rebuilt the carb, and cleaned everything in it . I think maybe the seat on the inlet needle is bad or something.

You have a leak. If you take a tube, fill it with liquid, plug both ends, hold it up virtical and remove the bottom plug.
What happends?

If there is no leaks the fluid stays put.

Gday Mange,
Sounds as if you have an air leak or your diaphram in the carby is not sealed correctly pressure test both thats carby then power head.
Keep smiling the day could only get worse.

I just rebuilt the carb, again, with new parts, and had better results, but still it wont run. When I got the saw there was an obvious air leak from the fuel line being melted in one spot, where it was lodged in between the ignotion coil stud, and the top cover of the saw. thanks to that I could probably use a better piston, but it looks ok for now.

Well, Me and the one yed macman from the land of the great jumpers seem to think the same on this one Robert.
A Pressour test would see right from wrong. I bet the leak is near or is the diaphram. Let us know how it progress.

I just put a brand new kit in, twice, so I cant imagine it being the diaphragm, maybe a bad seat for the needle it likely.

Did you replace the fuel line? Make sure you did not pinch it or tear when replacing this would cause fuel to siphon back to tank. Check gasket under carb and make sure all holes are lined up properly. Some of those older s25 did not have a plastic bushing under carb, just gasket and it might not be lined up with vent hole. Good luck.

Something is wrong that is sure, I would start over, start in the tank and go on till you find the problem(s).
Do you have the IPL?

I`m not experienced with this model but can offer general suggestions, the first being that Mange and Ozflea are probably right about the leak. Next check your tank vent, is it working?
