I am downsizing and sold my 7015TRX yesterday. Might be interested in a Carlton 4012, and would like input from anyone who is operating one.
i am looking at the 44hp diesel model, Sandvic wheel, and NO remote control.
All input, good or bad, would be appreciated.
I am also considering a Bandit 2450XP, which has similar specs.
Thanks,
Jeff

If ure going to buy that machine, please do yourself a favor and get a remote. The advertising pays for itself( when people see this big machine roaming freely, it some how captures there childlike nature and they've just got to stop and look)

Carlton Grinder.

Another possibility is a 4400-4 this machine is a little bigger but has the 44 HP diesel you want. The cutting wheel is a bit bigger and it weighs a bit more. I can get mine any where that a rayco 1625 Super jr could go So i sold the rayco because SIZE DOES MATTER in the stump grinder world! If you buy a machine w/o the Sandvic wheel it will cost you about $1600 to convert the wheel and replace the bearings.
You will do well as long as you get away from the 1/2 inch finger teeth that are so common(they break and generally suck)!
Another option for teeth is the Multi-tip design from Alpine Machine with the side cutter-keepers. I have that wheel on my 4400 and it works really well .... only 8 teeth and if you break a tooth it only takes about a minute to swap it out !!!!! it cuts 50% better than the std wheel and it wont slow the engine because of too many teeth and not enough HP and with a full set of teeth it only cost about $750 with brgs to replace!.
I have the Sandvic wheel on my 7015 w/60 hp and it cuts really well but will still drag the motor down because there are so many teeth. BTW the remote will save you lots of money because w/o it you cant see everything that the head does and there fore you have lots of wasted effort and running the teeth through the dirt and thus dulling them! I am also a firm believer in sharpening your teeth every day! this will make your job way easier and give you a marked advantage over your competition! I keep a 4 1/2 inch Dewalt battery powered grinder with a green diamond wheel in my truck all the time!
Last year I ground 6,847 stumps total all machines and I couldnt have done it with out the wireless remote it is worth its weight in gold! and besides that you become the envy of every industrious little kid within eye sight of your operation! it is like an episode of Robot wars ..... you against the stump but the stump NEVER Wins! :msp_biggrin:
