Can anyone tell me if the Carlton N1C is still available and who may carry it.
I have been told it works well. Anyone have any input?

N1C

Its common 3/8 lp .050 chain... I prefer the older Sabre 357- about 40% longer cutter. Eric, why are you messing around with 3/8 lp chain???

Eric knew what he was asking for. We use the lightweight chassis of the LP chain and braze the teeth onto it from 3/8 and the 404 chain. It saves a lot of work on the chassis.

Hey Dan, Show us a picture of your braze job. Who did you learn that little secret from Gypo? Dennis

Jeff,
I have to do some thing to make these slow saws run... hell they wont pull 3/8.

Dennis,
I ran out of gas last night while brazing them teeth on. what a pain this is I'm sure it will be well worth it.
BTW thanks for the tip on witch 404 to use.

woodsjunkie;

Are you using common brazing rod or a silver brazing alloy. I am wondering how you avoid annealing adjoining parts.

brazing

That's what I was wondering Crofter, after all the welding then the heating to relax the weld then the reheat to temper along with a bit of grinding, he's going to have a bit of time tied up in that chain. The silver alloy would be nice and even nicer if he had a machine to do the welds. Pricy piece of chain when it's done and it still needs touched with a file and honed to a razors edge. Then it's race time.

Carlton does not have the marketing of an Oregon, thats why you do not see more of it. You can't compare N1C to 95. The N1C is mini chain and the 95 is .325/.050 if I am not mistaken. I don't handle Oregon so I'm not real familar.

I handle Carlton because it is good chain and because you can use their File-O-Plates with it.

The Sabre was good chain.
