A couple years ago I started reading threads on this site.
I distinctly remember a discussion on hacks in the industry.
Someone wrote, if you constantly make an effort to improve, make an effort to learn proper techniques for tree care, learn and obey the rules, you're not a hack, or something like that.
I didn't think I was a hack but I knew I didn't want to be one.
From this site I started looking at ISA, ordered some intruction videos and set my goals on certification.
I talked to the (then) president of MAA (Mass Arb.Assoc.) and decided to take the MCA (MA Cert.Arb.)
Earlier this month I passed the exam.

I'm very proud. Thanks to all of you that contributed to help me find some direction and inspiration.

I'll still keep the 9th year rookie handle, because as I've learned in the last year, there's always a lot more to learn.

Rookie, MCA

Congratulations 9thyearrookie, It s obvious what an asset this site is and the quality individuals you encounter here. Besides them the founder, Darin, whom I do not know who had the foresight to put this together must feel some of your pride also. Way to go. Learn until it hurts (Al Shigo)

Got that right. Congratulations on your success!

Human capital works to increase growth and enable enrichment for the employee, just as equipment capital such as trucks and tools work for the employer. Today, we consider human capital as the sum of education, natural talent, training, and experience. These fundamental assets fill the fountain from which future fortunes flow. Adding to our education is like depositing money in the bank. This process of training the brain and accumulating knowledge can be envisioned as stacking bricks of gold in our own personal Fort Knox. Shigo again: “Remember, ‘learn’ has ‘earn’ in it. The more you learn, the more you earn.” Education earns interest as it’s called upon to help us deal with new job challenges. Unlike trucks and tools and other forms of capital, it keeps increasing in value. imho.

Good for you!

How come you didn't say Hi?

I put up some stats on the exam at the "any of you guys" thread

Otg

I tried to find you, OTG.
I asked everyone there (proctors) if they were the guy on the web site.
Everyone looked at me funny.....
Except some of the other guys taking exam.
Nice to meet you guys btw - Dil/Bull
