not to start a p---- contest but i have three saws in the 50 cc range all good saws. 2 have rs chain the rapiid micro.
the rapid micro is the fastest it seems to me. ive read every body sayin the rs is best so im kinda curious as to what the benefit u guys are getting from the rs.
or any other comments. the rs is real good ,its just not quite as fast as the narrow kerf chain.so im open to ideas.
thanks

computer froze up again when i posted.
cant figure this . i notice it posted . it froze the computer. but dony let me change the subject. i really am curious for some input on the chains.

Rs and RM are 2 different chains. Rapid super{RS} has a square
cornered {full} chisel, it is faster. The RM[Rapid Micro] is a
{semi} chisel. If you have a full compliment of saftey {drags}
bumper links on either, it will affect your cutting speed.
Narrow kerf is usually a term used for the .043 ga. 3/8 l.p.
chain.
Of course opinions may throw some variables into this mix

The RS chain not having triple humped tie straps will require less maintenance(depth gauge filing)then a RM chain(with depth gauge and triple tie straps to file).
I do think RS is a more aggressive cutter then RM,but like the cut of PM chain(smaller kerf).

keep On :)

The pm [picco micro] is Stihl's 3/8 low profile, so Rick, you
prefer that to the rm or rs? pm1 or rm2 indicate that the chain
has the triplehumped tie strap. I do not even bother stocking
the safety chain anymore, it is hard to sell when the
customer knows the difference.
A real nice cutting small chain is 1/4 " pitch, but it is getting rare

yea i dont run safty on anything but a craftsman ,i bought when all my saws got stole. i dont think this narrow kerf chain i have is safty. got a spare in a box and ill look but i think its just round with no safty humps. its on the old partner
and i put it on cause thats what mikes site said it called for. the rs is on the 028 and the 335. [poulan pro] not husky:) .
ive just wondered if i wasnt getting the potential out of the rs for some reason.
the man i got sharpening now seems to really know his stuff. also loves to talk about it ,which is helpful.
went out to the truck to check . this thing im calling narrow kerf is realy
95vp ho66g . the dealer wrote 95rp66. thanks for the input.
on it in pen.
anyway i noticed that the original chain on this saw was safty[hadnt noticed that]. in anycase this new one seems to be fast.

No,don't prefer RM to RS.I do like PM(humped tie straps)in comparison to PMN(lite chain,no humped tie strap,odd shaped depth gauge)on my 021.

1/4" pitch chain is popular with carvers, I've noticed it for sale on a couple chainsaw carving sites along with sprockets to run it, up to 10 or 11 tooth I think. Been interested to try it.

Fish,I've tossed about the idea in my mind of trying pm1(have 2 16" loops)on my 026.This requires a 3/8" picco sprocket and ordering a 16" .050" gauge bar that will match 026 mounting studs and oiler.
Have you,or anyone else, used pm on a 026 and with what results compared to RS?

You'll keep on :)

As far as any combo that Stihl would have, if your 026 had a
rim sprocket system, you could use rim# 0000-642-1240
and .050 hardnose bar.
I have seen 3/8 l.p. chain used on a full 3/8 setup, but do
not know how well it works.
