I have several Echo chains saws and a few Stihl. I make my own chain but it is a bit inconvenient because I have to buy .050 pitch for the Echo's and .063 pitch for the Stihl's.

I'd like to convert the stihl's to .050 chain by purchasing new bars for them. From what I understand the gauge of the chain will not be a problem with the sprockets currently being used on the Stihl's, as long as they all have the same pitch (.325). . . is this correct?

Also, can I use any manufacturer bar to replace the Stihl's? Oregon, Echo etc?

thank you.

go on the chainsaw side of the forum and ask this question you will get an answer in a snap. but I'm pretty sure you will be fine the .63 is the size of the bar groove i do believe. .325 is whats gonna go around the sprocket but I'm not an expert i just go in and tell the guy i need my usual 3 rolls of chain for all the different saws.

we go through a lot of 404 chain.

as far as bars it doesn't matter just make sure it fits a stihl because the echo's are different. i run oregan super light bars where the center of the bar is made out of aluminum on my stills their like 2 pounds less than the regular steel bars.
