Found a Husky 435 at a yardsale for $50. Did not look brand new but definitely little used. Took it home and dumped the gas and refilled with ethanol free and it started right up and idled fine but the chain seemed dry. When i took the cap off of the oil reservoir, it was pristine, not even any oil residue. I imagine that the PO had tried to cut with it and just thought it was a POS ( I know, it is a POS, but worth $50) Chain was not razor sharp but looked like it had not ever been filed. Ive been looking for a small light saw for trimming branches etc., so quite happy with the find

Those small Huskys (435, ,440, 450) are great little saws for light use.
Muffler mod and tune the carb and you might just be surprised.

I went out to cut up some pine branches on Monday and it seemed to slow down under heavy load. I ordered a splined screwdriver and will try some adjustments on the H screw. I have watched a video or two about four stroking and i still do not understand what it is. Anyone have a foolproof explanation or a video, "four stroking for dummies"?

The carbs on those 400 series of home-owner saws, are a PITA to get rightly adjusted. They are those EPA carbs. I swap them out for the pre-model parts, and adjustments are back!
I've been struggling to keep my 445 in tune for years. Which pre-model carb would be appropriate to swap in? By pre-model do you mean something from the 3-series huskies like from a 346/350?
