Sometimes you need to work when it's wet. I don't like the usual raingear or "oilskins" since it is too stiff and noisy for working the woods.
Yesterday here Downeast, I worked clearing a property line in a moderate rain, temps in the 40's F. It needed doing for a weekend program. The line was thickly overgrown with fir, pine and spruce saplings, and blowdowns. Clothing was all Virgin Poly  . Wet going through the softwoods. In a few hours without raingear ( dumb ) I was cold and wet ( DUH ). :dizzy:

Ideas for chainsaw working raingear that will stand up to hard use and is subtle enough for working ? What do you Scandinoovians use ?

i think my dad has one of those stihl rain clothes, theyre made from really flexible rubber and have that net beneth them so they dont stick to you...

Husq ought to have same kind of gear, maybe ask your local dealer??

Stihl got "gore tex type" chainsaw jackets they sell here in Sweden, don't know about Husqvarna though ,,,,,

Neese or Pacific Trail

In the Coast Guard, on the buoy decks, I wore Neese rain clothing. It was extremely light, and never got soaked. This was after repeated washings with Simple Green to get the buoy snot off the jacket and pants.

Pacific Trail was a long time US company who bought out the company ROFFE back in the 90's. Then London Fog bought Pacific Trail and has since discontinued their rain wear.

I have just found a lot of pacific trail rain coats in the local closeout stores, and I saw them in Portland, Maine, black in color at Burlington Coat Factory just about 3 weeks ago. These jackets were $100 new, and they are clearing out for $35. I'm now a paramedic and no longer in the Coast Guard, but I use both Neese and Pac Trail for the woods, and the job.

Good Luck Downeaster...

stihl, husky, and most other saw/protective clothing makers do a full range of wet weather gear designed for in the forest (with all the extra flappy bits you need for when youre leaning over sawing).

oregon even do waterproof, breathable chainsaw protective trousers. for when you want to be dry, the right temperature, and safe. called, oregon extreme i believe...

have a search around, they are widely available in the u.k at least.
