Not big on gadgets but I could see something like that in my future. Wish I had enough fab skills myself to make one.

It's a neat idea. I think I would make a screen or shield of some sort to cover the bar except for 5-6'' in the middle, you aren't going to use it for anything bigger than that anyway.

It certainly seems to work well for its intended purpose. I don't see where it's any more dangerous than blocking small stuff in a pile with the saw, probably safer.

In 1983 my father-in-law had a kick back land in his juglar. I have tremendous respect for them moving chains.

Keep your chainsaw handy for normal use. A 100 dollar 10 inch miter saw will do wonders in that type of use. Cheap to operate and fast.

I don't think a mitre saw would work very well in this situation. The jig they have setup doesn't look to be that dangerous because the saw doesn't get throttled unless the workpiece lever is pushed back. So, the only way your gonna get hurt is if you fall against that bar and over the chainsaw.

Somebody has been hiding from the wife and tinkering in the barn...

Kinda cool how he rigged the linkages so the chain can be adjusted and not alter everything.

I'm thinking a similar apparatus could be rigged using a saw bar and an electric motor w/foot switch to make a dedicated unit, and not tie up a saw. But that would suck the fun right out of everything.:msp_angry:

Stay safe!

That is a clever idea.
Bad things can happen but you know what they say
"You can't fix stupid"
Some things aren't made for everybody and this is one of them. Hopefully they don't start selling that at the Home Depot becasue there are probably a bunch of morons that would figure out how to cut their arm off and then sue somebody.
