I bought one of the chainsaw tool kits listed on ebay, mostly for the pressure tester. There were not any detailed instructions, other than one paper with about two sentences, at the bottom which says EFCO. There is also a pen light that says John Deere on it. Anyway, I think I've figured out what most of the stuff is, but there's about 4 items that I'm scratching my head over. Anyone have any experience with this tool set? (I assume it is some sort of standard package from Efco) I could post some photos if necessary. I wonder if some of the items are specific to EFCO saws. I'm not going to sleep tonight unless I figure this out!

Yeah, post some pics. If we cannot tell you what it is, we will surely make
something up. Does the other stuff look like pullers or what?

So far:

The easy ones - Pressure tester, including plates to block off the ports and spacers for bolts, chainsaw wrench, chain and grinding wheel radius gage, allen T handles, spark tester, piston stop.

Ones that took me a minute - plastic ring compressers in several sizes, and a plastic plate with a slot in it that I'm guessing is to slide under the piston and around the rod to support the piston when changing rings and starting the jug on the piston.

Ones I'm not sure about

I think one is a seal driver. It's about 4" long, starts out at 2" diameter, and tapers at a 45 back to 1" diameter, and has a deep 5/8" hole in the big end.

Another part is about 2" long, and 1/2" diameter. One end has a hex machined on the outside for about 1/2 the length. The other end has a very shallow M8 x 1 thread in it.

Yet another part is 1-1/2" long and 1" in dia. It is hollowed out from one end to create a thin walled cup. The other end has about a 6mm hex hole that opens to the inside of the cup. 1/2 the height of the cup is machined so that all that's left of the wall are two thin legs on opposing sides. Looks like something you would use to loosen a spanner nut.

The last piece is a thin walled oval aluminum tube open on both ends. It is about 2" long, and the oval is about 3/4" x 1". It's actually more of a rectangular tube with a full radius on the short side of the rectangle. I wondered if it might be a spacer to assist in plugging a port for leak testing, but I'm not sure.

When I get a chance, I'll post a photo or two

That sounds somewhat like a piston stop to me. the kit probably has one with it.As for the other tools. I have no idea.

I'm wondering if this second item isn't a clutch tool and the first goes with it. TonyM already mentions a piston stop and I doubt Efco uses 2 different ones. Like the old saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words.

The one part is not a piston stop, as it is made out of steel, and I've already identified a piston stop. The other part is not heavy enough to remove a clutch, I don't think. Here's some photos. The one shows the whole kit. The other one shows my unknowns.

what did you pay for the kit? I think I have a few figured out, but a couple baffle me!
