Ah for that lovely smell of chainsaw exhaust on a crisp fall day!.

Couldn't resist yesterday. My annual supply is in but it was such a nice frosty morning I just -had- to get out and about. Loaded, and off to the wood patch. Fell a small (about 20" dbh) buckskin and worked it up. Didn't make much of a load but just being out there was the goal.

Have my hip surgery coming up in a few weeks so there will be no playing for a couple of months.

I eyeballed for another to cut before then. The only one that can come out now is a -big-, badly leaning dead willow. Should be about 36" or more DBH and about 60' tall. I HATE falling leaners and this one leans by at least 30 degrees. Definitely will chain that one to prevent a barber chair. That one has to come next as it blocks others. Even then it is going to brush the top of another tree on its way down. Widow maker?? Looks to be so I will be departing cross county when it starts down. If weather holds I will probably do that one before the surgery.

A local lawn jockey was outside my building today and I got a nice whiff of pre-mix from his leaf blower and I figured that of the two or three hundred people in my building breathing in the pre-mix, I'm probably the only one enjoying it.

Made me want to mix up a fresh batch of fuel for the saws and cut some firewood.
