I found a good deal on a MS200T at a local pawn shop. Is it possible to change this to a rear handle? Is it practical may be a better question.
Thanks, Mark.

Is it possible? Well anything is with enough money. Is it a worthwhile, practical, or cost effective venture? I doubt it, by the time you buy the parts and convert it, it would have to be virtually free to come close to buying the rear handle saw. I would either buy it and use it as a top handle, buy it and resell or trade for a rear handle saw, or simply look for a rear handle saw that will suit your needs.

I have never seen a pawn shop as a place to find a good deal on a saw. I have however gotten some rare saws there although they were not great deals.

Here is an example of the local pawn shop "deals". A 029 in a case for $250, a 026 for about the same and a 056 for $450. No wonder they are still there. As for the question of switching it to a rear handle I would believe the parts would be mucj more than it is worth. The other problem would be parts availability since the rear handle 200T just became available in the USA.

I got a Husky 394 in pretty good shape at a pawn shop for $200. If you look in the right places, good deals are out there.

I just keep my eyes open on ebay,Bought a Husky 254xp for £120 delivered & a 266xp for £191 delivered both with hardley any wear on them.
As for fitting the rear handle on the saw contact stihl for a workshop manual & parts lists & you will then be able to work out what parts you need & then be able to work out if its econmical to do it.

I got a red max g2500ts chainsaw in a pawn shop with a new bar and chain for $39.95 the saw runs great I have seen some deals but their are some $300 stihl farm bosses and $200.00 poulan wildthings. I replaced the clutch springs on my stihl 066 and it works great it was time consuming but it was worth it not to have to pay my deal $50.00 just to do it.

It would not be worth the effort or expense like TimberPig mentioned.

They are basically two different saws. The on -off controls are different. The air box, filter and the whole air intake manifold system is not the same. The handle and anti-vibration mounts won't interchange without buying a new outer case.

It looks like you would really get involved in trying to switch one over. I bet if you were to try to change one over you would have almost the cost of a new saw.

I put a pic on of the the two side by side.
