Hey all,

A question for some of the historians out there.

I've noticed that the adjustment holes for the chain adjustment screw/pin on older bars are not round--they're like a oblate shape and then have an additional hole next to them. They seem to still work with simple round pins.

Was there another shape before this?

There are a bunch of NOS sandvik bars coming on ebay. They are all ~$20 shipping included so it might be something to think about.

Anyways here, photos:

Sorry for the glare, not my camera/dont know what i'm doing with this one.

Also check out this 13" oregon bar. $5 and $5 shipping!

Ridiculous but it will be good for bore cutting some of the small trees we get on firewood permits up here and trying to actually get them to go where you want.

Mike, I like those bar mounts. I think the Oregon # for that mount was A095. The will work with alot of different saws. What I don't like about the Sandvik bars that I have been around are that they seem to use some odd drive link counts.

I think they got the slot originally to work on the small Homelites like the SEZ and such with the flat adjuster pin. Notice now how much bigger the small Husky K095 adjuster holes are now compared to these to work with the flat adjuster pins.

They also should have the option to oil through the adjuster holes to take the place of the K041 mount on Poulans and Echos.

The carlton solid one ended up being cut very wide. I was hoping it would have a slimmer profile and thus not be as heavy as the larger 20" + ones but I was wrong. It makes the 346 front heavy and will basically pick the back up off a flat surface if you have less than a full tank of gas in the back.

I believe some bars had oddly shaped holes, to fit slightly different mounts, or versions of them.... :confused2:
