Charting your rope usage

Does anyone keep a written rope log to keep track of your rope's lifespan?

I'm curious how many people do this and how specifically you keep track.

Not really a rope chart but I keep purchase logs that tell me exactly when I bought a piece of equipment and how much I paid for it. My climbing lines get retired when need be based on visual inspection.
