I'm not a logger so please forgive my intrusion. I was cleaning up my recently acquired 101B 125SPC and discovered more signatures. I tried to reach the last user owner but was told he had recently left for Alaska to work; his last location was in or near Winlock, Washington. His name is Steve Hyder (not on the saw). I was told he got the saw from a fellow feller about 25 years ago. The names I can read are: Mike Garrett (must have been his saw as his name is in the center on top of tank, other names are on the sides), Jim Long (with the date 5/7/81), Eddie Fortner, possibly ?Kipp? ???, and possibly several other names.

Any signers here? Anyone here know any of the signers?

Thanks, Ron

I know of the names of Mike Garrett and Steve Hyder. Don't know them personally but have heard their names before.

I have to go to Madsens saw shop on Wednesday. I'll try to remember to take their names and ask Sam if he knows their whereabouts.

Thanks. Something must be special about this group of men and this saw for each of them to take the time to engrave their names on it. I assume the date (5-7-81) is significant as well. Ron

I talked to Mike, the master mechanic at Madsens today. As I suspected, Steve Hyder is a well known and highly respected faller from the Chehalis area. Apparently he is falling for North Fork Timber from the Chehalis area. He didn't know the names of any of the other guys. I recognize Mike Garrett and Eddie Fortner but don't know them. Hope this helps.
