Cherry Picker?

Where did this term originate from when talking about Bucket trucks and lifts?

I think cuz they were originally designed for picking oranges.

I realize they were made for picking cherries. I would like to kn ow where it ORIGINATED from? Like what part of the world and why it has such a loyal following when speaking of any aerial lift.

Bull, My dad is around 66 years, he and a few other guys i know from his generation use the term "cherry picker" in reference to a clamshell log loader like the prentice 120 or rotobec. i guess they had bigger cherries a few years back
