I just bought a ford f-350 with a dump body on it but I need a chip box. Does anyone know where I can buy one? I really dont want to make it out of wood.

If you want to take your body off, lookinto arbortech, or get intouch with a good welder\fabricator and have hime make one.

Have a fabricator make a good two or three piece sheet metal/aluminum one that you can remove in sections or all to make your dump more versatile for treework. Kinda like the Arbortech UTV concept. I hear you about not making it out of wood, did that already, and it looks cheap to your customers. I have seen very nice ones made locally with brakelights in the top corners. If you are going to go with a chip box you can find a lot of good new and used ones at good prices. Good luck!

I made one out of wood, think it looks pretty good too. Make a long narrow tool box on the side for my rakes, shovel, long bar chainsaws. The passenger side gate folds in half to dump debris or stump grindings in with my tractor. No top on it, but my chipper doesn't blow over the top much. I'll see if I can up load a pic

I try to insert image from my own computer file, but no luck, any suggestions??

We had a big storm years ago, I had to turn my 78 L700 Ford into a chipper truck , it had 4ft metal side racks, used plywood and dimensional lumber for the build, painted it black and put in metal air vents, worked really hard on making it NOT look hillbilly, didnt work, no matter what I did, I could not stand looking at the monstrosity that I created!, I kept it on the truck for about a month before I took a sawzaw to it! Made for some good stress relief, Wood works and will get you thru, but Metal is the only way. If you think it looks ho-dunk then your customers will as well

Also, those guys are right, a local fab shop could make that top fairly quick, I had one made that bolted right on top, on or off in about in 15min. Cost me about 1300

I picked up a F-350 with the dump on it when I first started. Made the sides out of 3, 8' long, 12" wide boards then made the top out of 2, 16 gauge 4'x8's. Also, I welded hinges between the two sheets so I can fold up the back half to load whatever. I didn't want wood sides but if everything's painted the same color it doesn't look to bad and I have 3 years on it and still holding up.

Purdue, that's just about what I did, still working good for me too!
