Chipper chute Lube

Very hard to keep chute lubed so that it rotates easily. Have taken it apart, scrubbed, scraped debris build up. After greasing, chute only rotates a hand full of times before it gets difficult again.

Any tips? Thanks

Is it supposed to be lubed? quite often parts that are exposed to large amounts of small debris are better left dry as LUBE + DEBRIS = GUM

Clean it up real good, and try some powdered graphite lube. Works good.

That is sure true for Bandit chippers. Better left dry, just scrape and powerwash once a year.

Defniitely +1. We don't lube the chute at all on our Greenmech, and have no problem at all. Leave it dry, just take apart, wipe off the crap and reassemble every now and then. The only time I would consider using any lube on it would be if it was going to be sitting for several months.

Id hit the chain if it has one, thats about it.
Asides from that dry lubes as mentioned before.

I haven't used a chipper much but use Fluid Film on pretty much everything I own. Well not everything, the ky is good for something. Wouldn't hurt to try Fluid Film.

Thanks guys. If its supposed to run dry, why the grease ports?
Wish I could think of something snappy for the ky guy.
