I heard a one sentence story on the radio this morning. apparantly a guy was in the chute trying to force the brush through...and went with it... Heard anything, you Floridians?

These are the stories to pass around so people will learn from others mistakes. As the article stated it isn't the first case of this kind of accident. What a tragedy.

That just sucks.

The article says that there have only been 3 chipper related deaths in the past few years though. I thought that Florida had one of the highest mortality rates in this business?

its all too easy for us to sit back and say that shouldn't have happend..these thoughts came straight to my mind along my sympathies to the family ..

on monday im going to put a copy of that news paper report under the noses of my staff..just lately iv'e seen too many instances of hands going where they shouldn't ..too far into the hopper..i would urge all company owners to print off a copy and show there staff  :(

It just seems that Florida and Jersey have VERY high mortality rates compared to other states. I mean really, where do we hear about the most?

I bet there have been a lot more than 3 in the past few years, I bet we had more than 3 just last year. FL has tree work year round, we might run chippers more often than in other states..???

I met a ground guy a couple of weeks ago with no fingers -- saw accident. He was the hardest working guy on that crew!! I know it is not really funny, but he put some gloves on....I better stop. Rag tag bunch of tree guys on that crew but they had cash so I hauled away their logs.
