Wed. I made it almost to the job site but had to pull over because I was getting sicker by the min. I called in and explained i was coming down with the flu, and could I be excused for the day. Was going to work at the botanical gardens. So I miss three days of work and never herd any thing from that company tell today. The owner calls me, He is stressed out. Seems like he sent three grounds men to go chip a big pile of brush on the first day I missed to keep them busy. These are three experienced guys who have worked for him for years.
The bottom line is they put 5 gal. of gas in the venmeer 1800 diesel chipper. What were they thinking?(or smoking) He said there is a chance the motor could be ruined. Its at Altec being gone throu and flushed, and inspected right now$$$$. I know he is pissed but he made several references about me not being there that day like its part my fault. He sounded like he was ready to cry over the phone.
What kind of damage can that do? Is it as serous as he thinks? I know moneys been tight for him. Poor guy. He said he fired all three of those guys

doubt it's going to ruin the motor, chances are it didn't run very long with gas in it. It is however gonna cost a bit to flush everything, drain the tank, bleed, replace glowplugs ect.. Not to long ago my truck was running real rough so I brought it in to the dealership to have looked at. They said someone put diesel in the tank. Impossible i said, I'm the only one that fuels this particular truck. Long story short - where I gas up the delivery guy effed up and filled the main reg gas tank with diesel. Gas station paid the bill, around 800$

5 Gals of gas mixed with how much diesel ? I would say that as long as there was 15 gals or so of diesel still in the tank, things should be ok.

When I was in highschool and loved wrenching on cars, one of my idiot friends put gas in a diesel farm truck. We fully flushed the fuel system and changed the oil and it was fine.... I hope this is the case with the chipper.

.... #### beast..... i feel bad for ya ..... sounds like you are surrounded by ####### idiots......

In da winter, I put a gallon of gas in my diesel's, with a full tank, keeps them from gelling, gives a small boost, old trucker trick

kerosene or diesel 911 work good too... i go with whatever is cheaper at the time.... it certainly beats ####### around with a heater...

Try it when ya crew put diesel in the chipper hyrdro oil tank,,, do hope ya get well soon lad.

haha one of the idiots I work with did that once, three of the chippers have the fuel tank in the font half while the hydro is in the rear half of the tank. Well the fourth chipper is the other way around never crossed his mind why the gas tank was so small:confused2: so that being said hydros were full and it ran out of fuel halfway through a job "but I fueled it up in the morning" we look bone dry "why you looking in that tank this is the one I filled" yea that hydro tank is bolted shut now

Update. The chipper was flushed and serviced, and is back on line. Don't know what that cost but still cheaper then a new motor. On the bright side. I got a friend of mine a job there. He's replacing one of the idiots who got fired. One got to come back. The other two are unemployed.
I work there 3 days a week, I didn't much care for the two who are gone anyway.
