Hey guys,
New member here and I am looking into purchasing a chipper for my 37 acre property. I don't like any of the small 3" models that I've seen around and the funds I can devote to this are limited so I can't buy a commercial size chipper either. My Ingersoll tractor takes a hydraulic powered chipper but those are hard to find. I saw this chipper on Craigslist a few days ago and couldn't get to it first so it was sold to someone else. The asking price was $500. I liked how it could take a 4" branch, was a tow behind model and looked well built:

I was wondering if anyone here knows what brand/model it was or if you folks know of any brands that make a similar model? Or if you had some personal recommendations of your own for a homeowner sized chipper that I could get used for a grand-ish. My chipper experience is limited to a few days working with a hydraulic powered chipper off the back of my buddy's Kubota about ten years ago, so I really don't know where to start. I do think I've seen an Echo Bear Cat two behind for sale before, I think it had an 8HP engine and the asking price was $1500.

And input would be greatly appreciated.

Look for a 6" chipper. A # of companies make them with an 18hp to 30hp gas engine on them. You will be much happier and will get longer service out of it.

I spent about 3 grand on a 1987 12" auto feed disc chipper. I am happy that I spent the money on something older rather than something smaller. Just food for thought.:msp_thumbup:
