I need help, I need to choose between a new band mill ( Timber King 1220 or Norwood lumbermate 2000 ) and a new dump trailer 10,000lbs. The mill would be replacing my CSM that would make cutting more efficient and profitable. The trailer would be to haul a skidloader and anything that can be put in it. Which would you choose?

I have never heard anything negative about the Norwood. I can't say that about TimberKing. I have not owned either one, so it is just hearsay.

I have a Norwood LM2000, as do several others here, and its a good machine. I can't say how it compares to a TK as I've never seen one. Being from Pa, you could drive up to Buffalo an pick up a Norwood and save yourself the shipping $$.

The LM2000 is an all manual mill, but then again, so is the CSM. If you purchase new, you will need to assemble it or have it assembled, but if you do it you WILL know all about the mill prior to using it.

I opted for the trailer package and 23hp among other things.

I was cutting some 6 month air dried walnut last week, and cut boards up to 22" wide. Its definitely quicker and easier than a CSM, and makes a much narrower cut. Fuel consumption and noise is minimal compare to a CSM.

Norwood has a forum on their site.

Thanks, I guess that sort of answers the question as I am thinking I will go with the mill as to the trailer, everyone seems to like the LM2000 better than the timberking

Did I read right about you wanting to buy either a new mill or a new dump trailer? If so go for the dump trailer but get at least a 12K trailer. I have 3 dump trailer and a sawmill. The mill is nice (woodmizer LT15) but I don't know what I would do without the dump trailers. It's easy to cut logs and haul them to a guy and have him mill them. Do you use a lot of lumber? I see you have a skid steer. I think a dump trailer is almost a must with a skid steer.
