Anyone ever bury class A pipe? Just wondering, Due to my set up now coming out of my basement below grade with the thimble I come out below ground. Instead of having a huge hole in the ground to collect water on the foundation has anyone just filled it back in. Clean out wouldn't be an issue I would just take the chimney down since it's not all that tall.

I am going to guess it should not be buried. Not sure what the dangers could be other than corrosion. Would the ground be enough of a heat sink to avoid hot spots? Water could seep in from the joints and get the insulation wet, then steam out through the whole chimney..

I would just use a window well. Not much water going down there if graded properly around the house.

i dont see why you cant burry it. might rot out early, but shouldnt hinder performance or be a danger.

Instead of a window well, maybe use square, chimney block to make a, well, a chimney. Gravel in the bottom for drainage, and run the Class A pipe up the flue. Use a collar at the top of the block to keep out water and debris. Maybe pack it with dry sand?

Just some ideas.

Well I ended up just buying a 30 degree elbow kit to get around the soffit. So I didn't need to bury the pipe. Thanks for all the advice.
