any one ever tried this brand of rope ?? " FORESTRY PRO " , its sold by WESSPUR.... $59 for 120',, $74 for 150'.. 12 strand,, 7300 lb rating...

every now and then i do a spike take down job, and mooch a rope off one of the guys... use it as my second tie in...

just wondering,, for my limited use,, is it a deal,, or should i just spend a few extra bucks ????

what do you mean? you climb trees but dont have a rope? never heard of this rope you speak of so i cant tell you anything about it. if you want some good cheap rope go with the arborplex.

This guy doesn't (by his own admission) own a rope and yet I remember reading a past post of his where he explains rigging to Thetreespyder.

http://www.arboristsite.com/showthread.php?t=34886 Post # 4

"spyder,, i think you have some bad numbers on your rigging figures... you have 1/2x, 2x, 4x, on your charts..they're wrong...your redirect pulley,,is just that,,it redirects the line... it gives you no mechanical advantage....as for the pulley choked to the limb vs. a pulley on a line over a limb, tied off to the tree.. there is no difference.. the forces are the same,, there is no 2x's to 4x's advantage...it's a common misconception....check out this link,, it's fairly basic,,,but it explains a lot.... ttp://science.howstuffworks.com/pulley.htm "

:monkey: Curious..... Would You think a guy that would try to explain rope rigging would at least own a rope ?

I climb on a Samson rope, Blue streak to be exact and love it. Grabs well with friction hitches, very good feel in your hands as well. I believe it has a 8100LB rating. One of the other climbers in our company climbs on the Poision Ivy line, and he seems to like it as well.

+1 on TreeSpyder's numbers and diagrams.

Back to the original topic of this thread: I've never used Forestry Pro. But my theory of rope selection is this... My life is worth WAY more than any rope costs. Saving $20-50 on a rope is like placing a price tag on what I think I'm worth.

Buy the rope that you think will do what you want and that you will feel good about using. I, personally, want all the protection I can get for my kids' sake. That's why I also use Sampson ArborMaster (Blue Streak / Gold Streak / Arbormaster Red and Black). 8,100# strength, good size, good balance of firmness and pliability, and good knot holding a friction hitch compatibility = GOOD rope!
